Levotiron HOW DOES IT WORKS?

Most people need to be careful to start with a low dosage, about 25 mcgs per day and increase by about one tab or 25 mcgs per day every 5-6 days. Make sure that you don't go over 100 mcgs per day at the very most. On days that you take muliple tabs, divide the tabs evenly across the day (i.e. 100 mcgs. would be 4 doses of 25 mcgs. apiece spread evenly across the day).
You also need to make sure that you cycle down off this product as well to keep the thyroid functioning properly as well. Don't take for more than 5 weeks at a time as well. After doing a cycle of this drug, make sure you go at least 8 weeks before doing it again as to allow normal thyroid functioning to return.
Store Levotiron between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) in a tightly closed, light-resistant container. Store away from moisture, heat, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Do not take tablets after the expiration date printed on the label. Keep Synthroid out of the reach of children and away from pets.

Levotiron SIDE EFFECTS:

Levothyroxine Sodium is contraindicated in patients with untreated thyrotoxicosis of any etiology or an apparent hypersensitivity to thyroid hormones or any of the inactive product constituents. (The 50 mcg tablet is formulated without color additives for patients who are sensitive to dyes.) There is no well-documented evidence of true allergic or idiosyncratic reactions to thyroid hormone. Levotiron is also contraindicated in the patients with uncorrected adrenal insufficiency, as thyroid hormones increase tissue demands, for adrenocortical hormones and may thereby precipitate acute adrenal crisis.
Levotiron has a narrow therapeutic index. Regardless of the indication for use, careful dosage titration is necessary to avoid the consequences of over or under-treatment. These consequences include, among others, effects on growth and development, cardiovascular function, bone metabolism, reproductive function, cognitive function, emotional state, gastrointestinal function, and on glucose and lipid metabolism. Many drugs interact with levothyroxine sodium necessitating adjustments in dosing to maintain therapeutic response.
